Medium Frequency Induction Furnace And Power Frequency Induction Furnace Compared, Its Advantages Are Mainly Concentrated In The Following 5 Aspects!

Medium frequency induction furnace is a kind of universal furnace suitable for smelting cast iron, cast steel, special steel and special alloy.

Compared with power frequency induction furnace, it has the following characteristics.


(1) fast melting speed and high production efficiency


Medium frequency induction furnace configuration of power density, is 1.4~1.6 times the power frequency induction furnace.

The melting speed of medium frequency induction furnace is faster than that of power frequency induction furnace under the same condition.

The skin effect of the current is also intensified with the increase of frequency, which also contributes to the rapid melting of the charge, thus improving the furnace's production efficiency.

Table 2 shows the energy balance of cast iron smelting in an 8t power frequency induction furnace and a 3t intermediate frequency induction furnace under the same time and similar output conditions.


As can be seen from the data in table 2, the medium frequency induction furnace has a small heat loss and high electro-thermal efficiency, with its thermal efficiency 8% higher than that of the power-frequency induction furnace, and the electricity consumption of tons of cast iron 10% lower.

(2) flexible and adaptable


Medium frequency induction furnace smelting, each furnace allows all the molten steel out of the net, the replacement smelting steel is very convenient.

Power frequency induction furnace smelting, each furnace steel liquid can not be clean, need to keep 30%~50% of the steel liquid in the furnace, in order to start using the furnace, which makes the change of smelting steel is not convenient.

Therefore, the adaptability of power frequency induction furnace is poor, which can only be used for continuous smelting of a single steel number.


(3) better electromagnetic stirring effect


Since the electromagnetic force of liquid steel is inversely proportional to the square root of the power supply frequency, the stirring force of medium frequency power supply is smaller than that of power frequency power supply.

For removing impurities, uniform chemical composition and uniform temperature, the stirring effect of medium frequency power supply is better.

The excessive stirring force of the power supply increases the scouring force of the liquid steel on the furnace lining, which not only reduces the refining effect but also reduces the life of the crucible.


(4) easy start-up operation


Since the skin effect of if current is much larger than that of power frequency current, if induction furnace has no special requirements for furnace charge when it is started, so it can be rapidly heated after charging.

However, the induction furnace requires a specially made charging block (similar to the size of the crucible, about half of the height of the crucible is cast steel or cast iron) to start heating, and the heating speed is very slow.

Therefore, the medium frequency induction furnace is mostly used in the condition of periodic operation.

Another advantage of easy start-up is that power can be saved during cycle operation.

According to the comparison results of smelting cast iron in 1t medium frequency induction furnace and 5t power frequency induction furnace provided by an enterprise,

When the weekly iron output is 60t, the average electric energy consumption per ton of molten iron is 577kW·h and 654kW·h, respectively.

This shows that the cycle operation when the choice of intermediate frequency induction furnace is more appropriate.


(5) molten steel is covered by slag to reduce atmospheric pollution of molten steel


The phenomenon of "hump" of molten steel in power frequency induction furnace is more serious than that in medium frequency induction furnace.

Medium frequency induction furnace slag has good fluidity and covering ability, and can be used for deoxidization and desulfurization refining.


Due to the above advantages, in recent years, medium frequency induction furnace is not only widely used in the production of steel and alloy, but also in the production of cast iron, especially in the periodic operation of the casting workshop has also been rapidly developed.
